Responsible Tourism

Programme 01

Making low-impact travel the default rather than the exception

Nepal’s trails were not built for the volume they now carry. Responsible tourism is not a slogan on a brochure. It is a set of habits: carry out what you carry in, stay on the trail, use local guides and lodges, refuse single-use plastic where a refill exists.

We work with trekkers, agencies and trekking staff to make these habits standard rather than exceptional, through briefings, on-trail practice, and working directly with the operators who set the norms their clients follow.

What we do: trekker and operator awareness sessions · practical low-impact trekking guidance · working with agencies to embed standards in their trips

EDITOR NOTE (REMOVE BEFORE LAUNCH): add number of sessions run, agencies engaged, and any published guidelines.

This programme runs on volunteers and funding that isn't tied to a single season.
